Palay and corn trading during harvest time is rampant considering that the province is always surplus of both commodities ever since according to Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) data, excess palay and corn are traded outside the province in search for a better price and buyer.

Manufacturing sector is gradually penetrating the export and domestic market. Products such as handicrafts and jewelries are produced in many places in the province.

The largest Oil Palm plantation in the country is found in Agusan del Sur, with a total of 20,000 hectares planted. Nowadays factories are set up to process oil palm fresh fruits into crude palm oil and finished products, plantation timber into veneer and match splints. Different indigenous materials are also processed into handicrafts, gold into fine jewelries, different fruits and crops into food items.

Accordingly large volume of gold deposits is found in the province as evidenced by the presence of Philsaga Mining Corporation, JTC Mining Corporation and plenty of small-scale miners. Other commercial minerals found in the province are limestone, marble, gypsium, manganese, phosphate rock, coal, andesite rock, chromite, quartz, white clay and aggregates.

An industrial estate in Talacogon, the Agusan del Sur Provincial Industrial Center, forms the nucleus of the Agusan del Sur Growth Diamond. It is expected to boost the agro-industrial production and aid in the further growth of the economy. This economic zone is now hosting from light to medium industries engaged mostly in agro-industrial processing.
