Agusan Marsh is one of the most ecologically significant wetlands in the Philippines, Asia’s most important transit points for wild birds and one of the largest marshland in Asia. Found in the heart of Northern Mindanao’s Agusan Basin covering an area of 110,298 hectares, 65,806 of which are declared protected area. It is both a home of the most endangered flora and fauna species and a home of migratory birds during winter. Notable of the marsh's features are 132 bird species, 112 species of flowering plants and ferns, some being considered rare, 65 types of butterflies, 2 crocodile species and the locally-known Danata, a soft-shelled turtle.  These natures give you an experience of river cruising, lake hopping, photo shooting and just wonder the beauty of the mystic and vast expanse of the mighty Agusan Marsh.

Agusan del Sur is not just rich in natural resources but also of its culture and heritage. Festivals offer tourist a glance to the province’s diverse cultural tradition preserved and handed down from one generation to another. Among the well attended festivals are the Naliyagan Festivals held every June 12-17 (the founding anniversary of the province and coincided with the Philippines Independence day celebration) at the Gov. Democrito O. Plaza Government Center in Prosperidad and Santikan Festival held every June 12-15 at the Municipality of Trento. These festivals portray natives from the different parts of the province, showcasing their artistry and gracefulness. “Santikan” is a Manobo word which means the striking of fire and alluding to different friendly competitions throughout its duration.

Have some excitement and hike the “Mount Diwata Hot and Cold Spring” surrounded by a naturally preserved forest. It offers not only wonderful scenery for mountain trekkers but also natural medicine to tired urbanites and natural lovers.
